please share some of your experiences. I am going to start the study of staistics, but have no idea which software should be selected. Anyone knows which software would have brighter future than others? Thanks so much for any of your suggestion or information.

Thank you guys for ur answering. How about R? It's free, more flexible and compatible to C/C++, is it correct?

well. That depends. If you only want to perform basic analyze, excel and miniTab, are enough. If you want to find a job, SAS may be helpful. If you want to do some scientific analysis, R would be the best choice. People who study Sociology might prefer SPSS. Or maybe your department provide Stata free for students.
