[size=+1]根據最新調查結果，中文大學經濟系名列第一。 香港財經雜誌<<信報月刊>>於2005年元月號，首次發表了它對本港七間大學的經濟學科所做的「優勢評級調查」報告，並於同年三月號作出修訂。報告顯示，中文大學經濟系的表現最佳，名列第一 (見 表一)。該項調查採用三項評級指標，中大經濟系皆為各院校之首。該三項指標分別為，學科的師資陣容，研究表現，以及僱主對畢業生表現的評估。報告指出，中大經濟系的教師素質極高，其博士學位比率為100%。研究表現方面，以加權的論文人均量計算，中大經濟系得分 (100) 為七校之冠 (見表二)。調查顯示，僱主對中大經濟系畢業生的表現評價甚佳，尤其是在工作技能、工作態度、以及中文能力方面深獲好評，得分均較其他院校畢業生為高 (見表三)。綜合上述三項主要評級指標，結果顯示中大經濟系穩居榜首，是毫無疑問的。

Since its inception as the Department of Economics and Political Science to its current structure, the School of Economics and Finance plays a leading role in the theoretical study of economics and finance and their application to substantive issues pertaining to Hong Kong and the region. The School offers comprehensive training with particular attention paid to economic and financial institutions and systems in the Asian region. A wide range of courses is available to give students a balanced perspective and an in-depth understanding of various issues in economics and finance. Courses in economics can be selected from such areas such as general economics theory, money and finance, international economics, economic institutions and quantitative economics. Courses in finance focus on financial analysis, financial institutions, financial products and markets, and financial management. Reading courses and dissertations are also offered and consist of supervised reading and research on a special topic under the guidance of teaching staff.

Given the in-depth training of the School's programmes, graduates are well equipped to excel in a variety of jobs. A majority of our graduates are employed in the business and government sectors while others work in educational institutions or continue their formal education for a career in academia.
