"lend me your ears"可不是“把你的耳朵借给我”！

中文里面，我们经常会用到各种比喻，比如说：快如闪电，日月如梭。与此类似，英文中也有大量的比喻，准确掌握比喻的用法，可以写出更加地道和完美的英语作文，还能更身临其境地理解英语读物。

simile 明喻
明喻是将具有共性的不同事物作对比，这种共性存在于人们的心里，而不是事物的自然属性。
标志词常用：like, as, seem, as if, as though, similar to, such as 等。例如：

She's as timid as a mouse. 她胆小如鼠。

My love is like a red, red rose. 我的爱就像一朵红红的玫瑰。

etaphor 隐喻，暗喻
隐喻是简缩了的明喻，是将某一事物的名称用于另一事物，通过比较形成。例如：

You're such a busy bee! 你简直就是只勤劳的蜜蜂。

All the world's a stage; And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances.

整个世界是舞台，我们是这个舞台上的演员，大家在这个舞台上登场和谢幕。 ——莎士比亚
metonymy 借喻，转喻
借喻不直接说出所要说的事物，而使用另一个与之相关的事物名称.
（1）以事物的明显标志代替事物本身

To be afeard to tell greybeards the truth? 害怕告诉老人真相吗？

（greybeards 是灰胡子的特征，以此特征代替老年人。）
（2）以工具代替动作或行为者或者以作者代替作品

The pen is mightier than the sword. 握笔的比拿剑的更强大。

（ the pen 指 writing 或使用 pen 的人；the sword 指 military power 或使用sword 的人。）

（3）以人体的器官代替其功能

Lend me your ears, please. 请听我说。

（上句中的 ear 代替 sense or power of hearing(听觉，听能)。）

I had the muscle, and they made money out of it. 我有力气,他们就用我的力气赚钱。

（用muscle代替力气）
（4）以抽象的代替具体的或者以具体的代替抽象的

And all the pavement streamed with massacre. --地面流遍了屠杀的鲜血。

（上句中，用 massacre(屠杀)代替屠杀的结果(鲜血)。）

The whole school rushed noisily into the playground. 全校学生喧嚣地跑进操场。

(句中的 whole school 指代 all the students of the school。)
synecdoche 提喻
提喻用部分代替全体，或用全体代替部分，或特殊代替一般。例如：

There are about 100 hands working in his factory.他的厂里约有100名工人。

All the world-her world and his world-would think it better that they should part. 他和她所有相识的人都认为他们应该分开。
The fox goes very well with your cap.

这狐皮围脖与你的帽子很相配。
