小弟经济学初学者,对Samuleson的Economics 上有个地方搞了很久就是不懂. 原书 440页在"Caculating the CPI"有个公式 "weighted change in prices in period t =∑[relative importance of good i in(t-1)]*[percentage increase of good i from(t-1) to t]" 而下面有张表是这样的: Category Relative Importance(%) Change from February 2002 to February 2003 (% per year) Food and beverage 15.6 1.4 Housing 40.9 2.6 Medical care 6.0 4.5 other 37.5 3.9 Total 100.0 3.0 我是将"percentage increase of good i from(t-1) to t"等同于"Change from February 2002 to February 2003 (% per year)"计算的.结果是0.030143 又由最上面的一个公式"CPI in period t=CPI in period (t-1)*weighted change in prices in period t " 和公式"CPI in period t=CPI in period (t-1)*(1+Inflation rate in period t) " 可得 " weighted change in prices in period t=1+Inflation rate in period t" 这样"weighted change in prices in period t "应该大于1呀,怎么才0.030143. 我糊涂了,请各位高手不吝赐教.感激不尽.
there is no problem with the formula.the problem,i think, may be that Samuleson think this is a good chance to test our critical thinking.what an economist. thanks to you and Samuleson.
