 Asia Pacific: Media: 2007 advertising outlook for China; we expect high teens growth, James Mitchell, CFA
• Industry context: Based on bottom-up aggregation, we believe that advertising revenue to Chinese media was around US$13 bn in 2006, equivalent to 0.5-0.6% of GDP. We expect this share to rise toward 1.0% over time and forecast around 18% total advertising growth in 2007, a similar pace to 2006. We believe that online, out-of-home and mobile will take share from other media, and that local companies will increase spending faster than will multinationals. By category we assume that consumer goods and financials will increase spending; property developers and autos may stabilize spending; and health care, cosmetics, and tobacco may face regulatory risks.
