China heavy truck sector expected to report strong 1H10 results.
Weichai Power and Sinotruk, which are the major players in China’s
heavy truck sector, will release their 1H10 interim results on August 24
and August 27, respectively. In general, we expect China’s heavy truck
sector to report strong earnings growth in 1H10 due to: (a) the rather low
earnings base in 1H09, hit by the global financial crisis; (b) strong sales
volume growth in China’s heavy trucks in 1H10. According to China
Association of Auto Manufacturers, China sold 584,016 heavy trucks
(including heavy truck chassis) in 1H10, up 113% Y/Y, due to the
25.5% Y/Y growth in China’s fixed asset investment growth in 1H10 on
the back of the massive economic stimulus program.
